Uses Smart Technology to combine the capabilities of a light switch, dimmer, occupancy sensor and remote IR receiver into a single appliance - applicable on a fixture-by-fixture basis or across an ActiveLED® occupancy zone / lighting "network"
LightSpace® Manager-IR (LSM-IR) is designed to be connected to an ActiveLED® Series manageable power supply. One LSM-IR can digitally control one or many ActiveLED lighting fixtures, allowing the adjustment of light levels and occupancy sensing to suit occupancy needs while saving significant amounts of energy. The built-in IR receiver provides the ability to remotely operate the LSM up to 50 feet away using a hand-held remote controller.
A group of controlled ActiveLED light fixtures can be interconnected to form an occupancy zone / lighting "network".
ActiveLED® Occupancy Zone / Lighting Network
The number of ActiveLED lighting fixtures that can be controlled from a single LightSpace Manager-IR (LSM-IR) is virtually limitless.
LSM-IR is connected to the digital input of one ActiveLED lighting fixture using an inexpensive 6-wire cable terminated with 6-pin RJ-12 connectors.
Each interconnected LED fixture / power supply relays the LSM-IR settings to the next connected fixture via a 4-wire RJ11 / RJ12 communications cable, giving unlimited flexibility in managing a defined ActiveLED lighting occupancy zone or lighting network.
The following diagram is one example of a building or room with three entrances and three LightSpace Manager-IR appliances controlling a lighting network or occupancy zone.
Depending upon the size and shape of the defined space and the number of entry and exit points, one LSM-IR can be combined with up to 10 (ten) separate motion / occupancy sensors in designing the occupancy zone to provide maximum energy savings. The perceived light level can be precisely adjusted from 0 (off) to 100% in 2% increments to suit the particular requirements of the occupancy zone.
LightSpace® Manager-IR Programmability
LSM-IR is programmable to meet most lighting requirements via its easy-to-use user interface.
Light levels (dimming) can be programmed to suit local preferences in 2% increments, from 0 (off) to 100% (fully on).
The triggering of the occupancy sensor can be programmed in one minute increments from 1 to 540 minutes (9 hours), after which time it will dim the lights down to 50%.
The sensor can then be programmed in one minute increments to further reduce the lighting to zero, or a pre-defined low lighting level, after an additional 1 to 540 minutes. The Motion Sensor built into each ActiveLED LSM-IR has a range of 35 feet in a cone that is 50° from the perpendicular (100° total cone).
LightSpace® Manager-IR Operating Modes
The LSM-IR has three selectable modes of operation:
MODE | DESCRIPTION |
Auto | Enables both the Dimmer and Motion Sensor “automatic” functionality and the attached ActiveLED light fixtures will be managed by the LSM. |
On | Puts the LSM-IR into "On" or "Manual" mode and enables the Dimming up and down feature but disables the Motion Sensor. |
Off | Turns off the attached Ringdale ActiveLED lights (or down to the configured light level) and disables the Motion Sensor, while the background of the LSM-IR is lit to facilitate locating it in low ambient light levels. |
In applications where the LSM-IR needs to be operated remotely - for example from a podium across the room from the LSM-IR, or where the LSM-IR is installed out of reach of unauthorized users - all of the above described operations can be remotely managed via the built-in IR Receiver from a hand-held remote control, in much the same way as a home theater is operated from a remote IR control (remote IR controller sold separately).

The ActiveLED system architecture is unique in its efficiency, design and the way the ActiveLED Elements are driven. This chart accurately details the substantial energy savings that can be achieved when deploying a manageable ActiveLED lighting network. Combining this architecture with a LightSpace™ Appliance, including the LightSpace Manager-IR, provides additional energy savings that are somewhat exponential to the reduced light level. Example One: An ActiveLED 104 Watt High Bay Strip with the brightness dimmed down to brightness level 50, then the total power consumption of that fixture is 16.64 Watt (16% of 104 Watt) at this brightness level of 50. Example Two: An ActiveLED 104 Watt High Bay Strip with the brightness dimmed down to brightness level 30, then the total power consumption of that fixture is a mere 5.2 Watt (5% of 104 Watt) at this brightness level of 30. This same chart and percentages not only apply to any of our lighting fixtures with the external dimming controls, including the Rotary Digital Dimmer and the LightSpace Manager, but also to any pre-programmed ActiveLED fixture. Although the light output of ActiveLED fixtures can be dimmed in 2% increments, the chart on the left accurately portrays the percentage power consumption for each incremental brightness setting of 10. |
