The U.S.-manufactured ActiveLED® Kenall Retrofit is an innovative, self-contained LED light engine designed to easily replace the inefficient, high-wattage fluorescent tubes and ballasts in jail and prison applications for most Kenall wall-mount fixtures, providing energy savings of 50-80 percent.
Correctional Facilities, Jails and Prisons use Kenall style luminaires for illuminating the offender's cell or other holding spaces. The 30" and 50" Wall-Mount fixtures typically have fluorescent tubes and one or two ballasts that need regular maintenance.
The existing tubes and ballasts can be retrofitted with the low-wattage ActiveLED Retrofit engine and the Kenall fixtures still have the same robust characteristics. The only noticeable difference in its outward appearance is a better quality of light, which improves the safety of its surroundings.
Ringdale’s patented LED technology also ensures a long life span of 90,000 hours (24/7 is 8,760 hours per year), lowering the bottom line when it comes to maintenance and operational costs.
The ActiveLED "Kenall" Light Retrofit meets many commercial, residential and municipalities’ latest sustainability mandates for reducing energy usage and contains zero mercury.

Removing Existing Lamp & Electronics Assembly from existing Kenall Luminaire
It is a very straightforward process to remove the existing Kenall Luminaire electronics assembly in preparation for installing the ActiveLED BKenall Retrofit, as described below.
Before starting any disassembly / assembly work, first disconnect the AC power from the existing Wall-Mount Luminaire.
| • | Remove Cover / Diffuser from existing Kenall fixture by undoing the security screws (details may vary slightly based on the model of Luminaire). Retain screws for reassembly of Cover. |
| • | Remove existing Kenall electronics complete with Lamp, Lamp Holder and Ballast Electronics from the fixture and dispose of in accordance with local regulations. |
| • | Attach the ActiveLED Retrofit assembly to the existing Kenall fixture using the existing mounting holes. |
| • | Connect the existing AC cabling to the ActiveLED Kenall retrofit Power Supply. |
| • | Carefully attach the ActiveLED Retrofit LED assembly to the Kennal Retrofit Backplate (6 machine screws) and connect the DC cable from the ActiveLEDs to the power supply (2-wire snap-on connector). |
| • | Apply AC power to verify that the installation is correct and the ActiveLED Retrofit is illuminated, reattach Cover/ Diffuser using existing screws. |
