ActiveLED® Relay Controller with optional Dusk to Dawn (Daylight) and Dimming Management

  • LightSpace® Relay Controller, an Intelligent Digital Controller for ActiveLED® and Legacy Lighting Systems - Low DC Voltage, very low power consumption.

  • Uses Smart Technology to automatically activate relays or contactors to turn light fixtures off or on in an occupancy zone or lighting network.

  • Optionally can be configured with the ActiveLED LightSpace Manager where sensed motion is to be used to activate the relay or contactor(s)

  • Optionally can be configured with ActiveLED Ambient Light Sensor where natural daylight is to be used to activate the relay or contactor(s) (Astronomical Twilight Detector)

  • The number of ActiveLED light fixtures that can be digitally controlled (dimmed) from one LightSpace Relay Controller is virtually limitless - each interconnected ActiveLED fixture / power supply relays the control signals to the next fixture in the chain

  • Uses Smart Technology to automatically adjust ActiveLED lighting levels in an occupancy zone or lighting network based upon ambient light readings. Precise digital dimming of the perceived light level from 0 to 100% in 2% increments

  • Implement a digitally manageable & controllable occupancy zone / lighting network to save even more energy

    EXAMPLE:
A 104 Watt ActiveLED fixture that is dimmed down to light level 40, when there is no motion sensed, consumes just 9.36 Watt (9% of 104 Watt), saving 94.64 Watt, 91%

  • Satisfies the occupancy zone requirements of 2006 IECC

LightSpace® Relay Controller, an Intelligent Digital Controller for ActiveLED® and Legacy Lighting Systems

Uses Smart Technology to automatically activate relays or contactors to turn light fixtures off or on in an occupancy zone or lighting network. Optionally can be configured with either ActiveLED® LightSpace Manager® or Ambient Light Sensor where natural daylight is to be used to activate the relay or contactor(s).

LightSpace® Relay Controller is a modular system that can be configured for differing applications where there is a need to turn the light fixtures in a lighting zone or circuit off or on by activating one or many AC Contactors. Since the circuit is turned off or on by activating or deactivating contactors, the light fixtures can be LED or bulb technology and from any vendor, including ActiveLED®.

Dependent upon the lighting controls application, the LightSpace Relay Controller can optionally be configured with the Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) and/or the LightSpace Manager (LSM) to take power management to the next level of automation.

When configured with the Ambient Light Sensor, the Relay Controller is in effect an Astronomical Twilight Detector that uses ambient light levels to sense twilight and turn light fixtures off or on accordingly.

When configured with the LightSpace Manager, the Relay Controller uses sensed motion to turn light fixtures off and on, thereby saving energy when no motion is sensed.

Regardless of the technology and regardless of the vendor, the LightSpace Relay Controller triggers Contactors to turn these attached fixtures off or on. Additionally, any ActiveLED fixtures can optionally be connected together in a managed lighting zone to take advantage of the ActiveLED dimming architecture where these fixtures can be dimmed anywhere from 100% to zero in 2% increments, allowing the automatic adjustment of fixture light levels and energy consumption to suit the application needs.

ActiveLED® Occupancy Zone / Lighting "Network"

A group of controlled ActiveLED light fixtures can be interconnected to form an occupancy zone or lighting "network" and the number of ActiveLED lighting fixtures that can be controlled from a single LightSpace Relay Controller is virtually limitless.

Any attached ActiveLED fixture can be turned on or off or can be dimmed to predetermined levels based on the ambient light levels or detected motion.
Each interconnected ActiveLED fixture / power supply relays the ALS settings to the next connected fixture via a 4-wire RJ11 / RJ12 communications cable, giving unlimited flexibility in managing the defined ActiveLED lighting occupancy zone / lighting "network".

LightSpace® Relay Controller Overview

To accommodate as many configuration options as possible, the LightSpace Relay Controller is modular by design.
It can be configured with either an Ambient Light Sensor (Astronomical Twilight Detector) or a Motion Sensor and use either ambient lighting or motion to turn light fixtures off and on.
The integrated DIN Rail accommodates one or two Contactors specified for AC line voltages up to 480 VAC.
In addition to powering off and on any attached light fixtures (ActiveLED or any other technology / vendor), any attached ActiveLED fixtures can optionally be dimmed down to a preset level, rather than be powered all the way to off.

Ambient Light Sensor Operating Modes

The ALS has five operating modes, which may be selected by pressing the left touch button, as follows:

MODE

DESCRIPTION

AUT
Auto Mode

In Automatic Mode the ALS will monitor the ambient light readings of the room or public area and automatically adjust the light levels of the attached ActiveLED fixtures to maintain the desired pre-programmed ambient light level.

CAL
(Calibration)

Calibration Mode is the same as Auto Mode except the ALS displays its current light level reading (calibration). Calibration mode is also helpful when initially programming (calibrating) the ALS using its built-in light meter to provide the desired High and Low ambient light levels.

D2D
(Dusk/Dawn)

In D2D (Dusk-to-Dawn) mode the ALS becomes an Astronomical Twilight Detector and will activate the Contactors to turn the attached lighting fixtures off and on at the beginning and end of each day, while automatically adjusting for the seasons.

On

On Mode takes the ALS out of Automatic Mode and allows the light levels of the ActiveLED fixtures to be manually adjusted up or down in 2% increments from 0 (off) to 100% using the capacitive touch buttons.

Off

Turns the attached ActiveLED lights off (or down to the configured minimum light level), while the background of the ALS is lit to facilitate locating it in low ambient light levels.
